As the title says really. Do I have to do anything other than just be here? Will there be lots of questions? Feel very nervous! There are no issues as far as we know but such a lot rides on things being ok ...................

You don't even have to be there - there's nothing you can do to help it along and, if there are any issues, the surveyor may or may not spot them. There will be a lot of irritating crap in the report recommending further investigations which he can't or won't check himself.

Thanks, LLLL. Reassuring to know there's nothing I can do! Smile

...and indeed you won't get to see the survey so just let him in and let him get on with it. Rest assured he won't lift carpets, look behind furniture and if he goes into the attic, he will say 'can't see anything due to excess storage' even if it is empty.

the one who surveyed the place we sold couldn't even spot a huge drain cover in the middle of a floor. Fortunately the buyer queried the report and we were able to explain.

yes, I am cynical about surveyors...

Our house was surveyed on Friday. I didn't even know he was due as noone told me and the EA just have him they key! I was at work and was mortified when I found out he'd been in as the house was a complete state!! So no, you don't need to be there.

Well, the surveyor is here as I type! It all looks frighteningly thorough and I can't settle to anything ........................ Everything is being scrutinised in such detail. I don't think we've any major problems but am worried what he might find ......................... :)

we are expecting one of them soon. should we tidy up to viewing levels or leave the baby toys everywhere ?

CuddyMum · 26/03/2013 08:40

Well had mine not entered my house uninvited whilst I was out I would have tidied to viewing standard. I can only hope that the untidiness distracted him!
