Am I old?

The house that I bought with my OH is almost finished after 16 months.
So on a Friday night I am sat with a cup of coffee searching the pros and cons of curtain tracks verses curtain poles.
I'm old aren't I? Confused

Don't know if you are old or not but poles infinitely nicer than tracks. HTH.

StaticSockMonster · 22/03/2013 19:36

Thanks Lala.
My mother is "advising" that poles let lots of cold in but I just like them.
I am leaning towards poles though!

Aaah, well, your mother is old Wink.

DCIlouisemonroe · 22/03/2013 20:09

Poles all the way.

NotGoodNotBad · 22/03/2013 20:25

Yeah, tracks are for grannies!

StaticSockMonster · 22/03/2013 20:32

Yeah, she must be really old Wink
I shall go and buy a pole tomorrow then (if the snow lets me!) because you ladies appear to be "down wid da kids".
Have consulted my women's DIY book and they seem easy enough to fit Blush Ill give it a whirl.

Yeah, tracks are for grannies!

I agree they're not nearly as nice as poles but I can't have them at my stupid two sided bay windows that end at walls iyswim. They're the most difficult windows to dress so I only bother with the ones at the front and I have to buy granny curtains

MisForMumNotMaid · 22/03/2013 20:35

I'm old and i have tracks because i have the curtains snug to the windows at the back of very deep windowsills. Is38 old?

StaticSockMonster · 22/03/2013 20:46

Oblio, we have out some wooden vertical blinds in our bay window, yours sounds like ours.
There was a track up to it before but the sodding curtains kept getting stuck when I was trying to close them and the hooks kept coming off from tugging. I absolutely did not accidentally pull it down while I was getting cross with it one night.
I do prefer the snugness of curtains though.

Mis - no, I don't think you're old. Its the window sills dictating to you Smile

I prefer pole but your mum is right about them letting cold in. Also light. Would get tracks in next house. I am old.

We have a mix but my favourite are very gorgeous (and expensive) metal rails in the dining room. I'd avoid having cheap plastic tracks but there are nicer options.

fussychica · 23/03/2013 15:31

I am old but have a mix of metal poles (lounge) & track (master bedroom). I don't like the track but as I have my curtains in the bedroom blackout lined it would be a bit pointless to stick them on a pole.
