i love red and would like to paint our kitchen a deep strawberry type colour as it is cream at the moment and dull.units are white and floor is wood, would this make it too dark, if not red, what colour to liven bit up?

Maybe paint just one wall as 'feature wall' and leave the rest cream?

Maybe the problem is the white looking dirty against the cream walls.
A fresh light green or blue?

I don't think red and cream go together brilliantly well (not even if it's strawberry red) but I wouldn't be frightened of bright colour in a small space - I have bright red gloss units in a teensy kitchen, they look great.

I think it sounds fab, red and cream can be really retro if you like that kind of look.

What about a red splashback? Then it's still a pop of colour but not everywhere.

frazzled74 · 21/03/2013 22:29

there isnt much wall space to paint as units on both walls, I wouldnt want cream and red with white units as i think that it would look a bit messy. I think that i will be brave and go for it. Splashback idea is good but then i wouldnt know what colour to paint the walls, maybe white?. longlegs, your red units sound great.

Why, thank you. I misread, your units are white, your floor is wood, red walls could look great.

I will go for it, thankyou!
