Cost of private renting!!

Just found the house dh and I rented when we first moved here on Rightmove.

In 1996 we paid £600 per month.

They are now asking £1500 per month.

This is for a small 2 bed terrace with downstairs bathroom!

Is it just me or has that rent increased way more than wage inflation?

we rented 3 years ago paid £550 pm its now advertised at £650 pm

If it's in London and it had been sold in 1996 and was on the market again, I bet it would cost more than three times that price so it sounds to me like good value .

Ah, yes, lala! To buy the difference would be £75,000 vs £375,000 .
