tilers - how much do they cost in the South-East?

The tiler, who was recommended by a highly regarded workman, has just quoted me £700 for 15 square metres of work. This includes everything except the tiles.

We have to take down the existing tiles though.

Am I right in thinking the price is a little high?

15 sqm is a pretty small bathroom - I think that's pushing it but it will depend on how fiddly the job is, the bit that takes the time is, of course, cutting the tiles.

I've paid between £20 - £25 per sqm including the adhesives. I supplied my own tiles and when required, I paid extra for any trims. Also in the SE. Get more quotes!

thanks - will get more quotes.

15 sqm is for the shower bit as we are not having the whole bathroom tiled.

£500 for 3m2 of tiles, in the kitchen and lots of cutting round sockets etc and pretty fiddly bits. He charged his normal rate (he's a bit of an allrounder rather than just a tiler), which is £100 per day. He took his time though, which I was a bit Hmm about - personally think it could have been done in 3 days! We bought all the materials, he did the work.

Sorry, didn't mean to imply you had a titchy bathroom, I meant 15 sq m = a very small bathroom and so that seemed a bit toppy for that amount of work.

We are in Hertfordshire, and recently paid £740 for a shower room to be tiled, 16mtr walls and 3mtr floor. Included all materials, took around 3 days on and off I think (I'm not living there so didnt see all comings and goings...) though he had a helper on 2 of those days. Not cheap, but worth it as the room looks stunning now!

Wow glad my DH is able to tile. Just doing our bathroom 20m2 so that's at least £800 saved Grin

Thanks for the information.

Have tried to get other tilers to come round to quote for the job or even to quote for the area - but nobody would call me back. Are all the tradesmen so busy? Maybe I ought to take an apprenticeship in tiling.

lalalonglegs - don't worry, not offended - the bathroom is normal size except when I am cleaning it and then it seems huge. Grin
