Anyone Corgi/GasSafe registered out there?

Just wondering if anyone knows whether there is a LEGAL minimum distance between a gas hob and the extractor fan? Google tells me that there are the manufacturers recommended distances but I can't find anything that tells me whether there are Building Regs or equivalent! I want to replace our gas hob but suspect the distance is a little low, and don't want to end up with no hob if the fitter tells me it's too small!

760mm between gas hob and extractor I believe.

Well yes I've come across that - but I cannot find an official source for this. Certainly the existing gap is a lot less...and previous owners had all the buildings regs certs for when they did the kitchen so it must have been ok...

The manufacturers instructions can override this, so it's possible for it to be less.

Why would there be a minimum distance? I'm interested

According to the nice lady at Britannia (it's their hob I want) they recommend between 650 and 760 - but she says that "It?s a guideline that we need to give. I?m sure many people do have less than 650".

You have to have some minimum otherwise the heat of the burner could set the extractor on fire (assuming you left the burner on full without a pan in the way)....
