Has anyone got skirting board in a non white shade?

In a room next to a room that had skirting in a white shade?

My kitchen has F&B pointing on the skirting and im thinking of doing the utility skirting in f&b French grey as well as some cupboards/shelves.

But I'm worried about the door way.

How have you painted the transition between the white colour and the other colour. Have you painted the door in both colours, what about the edge of the door, and what about the door surround which colour is it?

Does it look odd? My utility room door is always open. Really worried it'll look bad? But I can't be the first person to have done this... Help!!!

Thank you.

We have blue skirting in bedroom, hideous 'wooden' door that's brown, and white skirting on landing. Bit dated but I like it. Did has yellow skirting with the same type of door and also leading off landing. Looks fine. About to repaint it all white, mind you.

Dd, not 'Did'- stupid autocorrect.

This is why all the woodwork is wood in our place. Lazy but toning.

We have Jasmine white (Dulux) skirting, door frames and radiators in the kitchen/diner and brilliant white in the hallway. The different paint meets on a door frame leading to the kitchen. No one has every spotted the difference on the door frame, because there is different light coming from the hallway and the kitchen.

little crystal it'll be very obvious in my scenario though as one is off white the other green :S

We have done this with two very different colours
I think this tells you how to do it

The previous owners painted blood red skirts and coving Shock next to white. Its awful. White or wood skirts only for me.

IMHO it looked fabulous !

We are moving but I will have some rooms similar in the next house - in my case it will be different woodwork paint in some rooms leading off the hallway.

I was told that skirtings ok in other colours, but door surrounds always to be white.

to that end, I usually do the skirtings in the same colour as the walls, with whoite door surrounds. There is a natural joint where the door surround passes the skirting, and it keeps the vertical and horizontal separate.
