Yikes - looks like we are moving - hints and tips for new build house

DH wants to move to a bigger new build house nearby, I agreed that we could put our house on the market to see what happens.

It sold in 5 days and we got a good deal on new house from developer.

Now need to start thinking about decorating new house, suggestions and ideas needed to make it look less stark and new!

Please be sure it is really what you want, the new house I mean. Something similar happened to me, DH wanted a new big shiny house, and even after trying to live there (5 years) it never lost the 'stark and new' feel!! Think at the time I was a bit PND and was like 'whatever' re the move.

I love my new build, but it does take some time as unlike a resale you have no mirrors, no curtains or blinds, no fixings for pictures, no toilet roll holders, no shelves etc. So buy a good power drill is my number one tip.
Ours was painted "Soft White" which we softened with feature walls in all rooms but the lounge as this had a fireplace, three windows and patio doors so plenty of "stuff" to soften the room.

Congratulations! Dont uou normally have to wait a year for the house to 'settle' befire decorating (could be wrong).

Beginning to warm to it.

Impressed the sales people by picking kitchen units, fittings, top, tiles, layout in under 1hour.

They said they had someone spend 3hours on tiles, then change their mind the next day.
