Stop Tap

My inside stop tap when turned does'nt seem to be actually turning off the water flow. Anyone know why?

There's a couple of potential issues here, the first being that the stopvalve itself is faulty.

Secondly, where are you testing the supply from? It is possible that you are turning off the mains supply but the water is being served by a tank in the loft. You should check for the water supply at the kitchen tap after turning the stopvalve off.

Thirdly, it might not be the correct stopvalve.
