Work on ours starts shortly and I want to make sure I've got it right. What is good or bad about your bathroom? I need tips and ideas.

Under floor heating - bliss! Tiled walls (easy to wipe clean). Sufficient storage to keep it looking clutter free (Inc a medicine cabinet out of reach of small DCs). A glass shower screen (pita to keep clean but makes the room bigger, lighter and more luxurious feeling).

We used Shower Wall instead of tiles. Wipe clean and no grout!!

Agree about a glass shower screen and adequate storage. Try to fit in twice the amount you think you need.

Good lighting.

Also try to get expensive taps. It lifts the look of a cheaper bathroom and they last forever and clean well.

YY to heated towel rails and classy taps.

Power shower.
Decent size mirror with light (not fluorescent).
We had joiner build a carcass/unit to house sink and plumbed in toilet. Gives us long run on top and double cupboard space (just put white kitchen unit doors on).

Good things about the bathroom we put in the last house:
Giant bath: it was a dream. We could fit both of us and dd in there comfortably (and dh is 6' 3"). On my own I could float without touching the sides. Bliss.
Shelf along side of bath: plenty of space for bath toys, hair products, cup of tea, cat, etc etc.
Floor to ceiling tiles: looked smart and easy to keep clean.

Bad things:
Cheap taps (dh's fault)
No access to bath tap plumbing - tiler tiled over it with predictable consequences.

Good things about bathroom in new house:
Massive airing cupboard

Bad things:
Roll top bath: enamel so the water goes cold quickly. Can't put anything on side of it. Cat is unimpressed with this.

Rain shower head in big shower cubicle (plenty big enough for two).

Aqua lisa digital shower (amazing) mixes the water before it comes out so nothing, nothing makes it suddenly go too hot or too cold.
We have one over bath and one in ensuite.

Our bathroom is mainly used as a bath room and not the shower as much so we went for this - www.bathroommarquee.co.uk/outasight.htm no big screen to cut the bathroom up - when not needed is out of view.

we first put in a towel rail which was plumbed like a normal radiator with a back up electric element which is expensive to run. I didn't realise we could have had it plumbed to the hot water which means it comes on in summer as well even when heating not on. i hate glass shower screens ( I like them but I hate the scale build up) so we had a shower curtain over the bath. a mirror just tiled onto the wall, flush with other tiling. And storage really important as others said. I like lino tiles or amtico as they are not as cold/slippery as ceramic
