IKEA or other oven?

Our house doesn't have an oven (we live in the Netherlands where this is quite normal, at least in Amsterdam where we live) and for a while we've had a combi-oven type thing. However I've had more than enough of it and want to get a proper wall oven. I'm not quite sure where to start - I will go to the place the kitchen units came from to get a quote for a matching unit that will fit an oven, and then I'll, erm, go and get an oven I guess.

I don't want to spend too much money, as I really don't have much at the moment. Also as long as the oven is ok for baking a cake/heating up a lasagne it will be fine for us. As we'll be going from a small combi oven with a broken turntable, anything better will be fabulous!

Ikea seem to have the cheapest and easiest way for me to get something simple (can get it delivered easily; we live in the inner city and don't have a car). But I can't find many reviews of their ovens except from people who are in the US and complain that parts are hard to get as the ovens are made in Italy. As we're on the Continent I don't expect that we'll have the same problem.

Has anyone bought an oven recently? Any ideas? When I was growing up fan-forced ovens were the very latest thing, so I'm really totally clueless as to what's going on in oven world right now! Thanks

We have just moved into a house with an Ikea oven. It isn't very good. Flimsy parts. Uneven heat. It can't be very old because the kitchen was recently redone. I can't wait to get rid.

I'm in the UK and have an ikea kitchen but bought the built in oven from sainsburys appliances online, it was an AEG model, I cook a lot and wanted a really decent brand. I think ikea have a fair reputation and I'm sure you'll be fine selecting something. Ovens often have loads of functions but most folks use just a few, like most bits of technology these days!; fan ovens work well, think whether you would like a grill, work out what's going to fit in your kitchen and how you want the oven door to open eg side or bottom hinged.
