Help with outside space!

We are buying a terraced house which has a strip running down the side of the house from the playroom into the garden. It's about 35 foot long and dead skinny, perhaps 5 foot wide?

The current owners have horrid stony shingle there but I want something that isn't a cat's toilet that my kids can walk into the garden on and use for play.

The area gets no sun at all as it's north facing and stuck between the house and our fence!

Any ideas?

At a local community hall, there is a similar sounding space where they have roofed it over and carpeted it to look like a road. It makes a fabulous space!

Whilst the carpet may be infeasible, I would seriously consider a canopy roof of some description. Then there is outdoor space for them even if it's raining.

Ooh, what a great idea, I'd never thought of a canopy!

Thanks!

Yes to a canopy. You can then dry washing even when it is raining and your children can play out no matter what the weather.
