Random water from shower

This has happened a couple of times recently. For no apparent reason water starts coming out of the shower head upstairs. We are all downstairs but can hear it hitting the shower tray. All the taps etc are turned off properly, could it be a water pressure problem?

It might just have been residual water trapped in the head dribbling out when enough air gets in.

You could try letting the head flop down after use to let the water out.

Or if it happens at intervals even when the shower has not been used, it might be the cartridge is leaking a bit due to wear or limescale.

It is possible to dismantle and clean or replace the cartridge, using silicone grease, if you are handy at that sort of thing. If it is a very expensive or unusual shower it might even be worth paying someone to do it.

Thanks pigletjohn
It's a fixed head rain shower plumbed into a tiled wall iykwim. I really hope it is just air. Its about 18months old. As it has transpired the contracter we used (got a lot of building work done at the same time) should have been wearing stetsons. Last night it happened at 10pm when the shower hadn't been used since the morning.
