Kitchen Tile Advice please - I like Fired Earth but it's ££££££££!!!

I was thinking I could get some design together involving cheaper tiles combined with a few strategically placed pricier tiles, to create a bespoke look (ha ha)

Can anyone advise me where to get design ideas from and whether there are any other tile places out there that have more original designs apart from Fired Earth?

I've got my new kitchen installed now - pale blue units with oak worktops. Was hoping to tile parts of the walls including above the (cream coloured) range with tiles that have elements of blue like the marrakesh tiles by Fired Earth but also perhaps some terracotta, creams, rusts as well.... but I'm just going round in circles.

any ideas would be gratefully received.....

Dunno. But I have a very very stylish friend who was telling me the other day that she'd ended up picking and choosing tiles from Topps, after doing lots of research at Fired Earth. She has a splash back in her bathroom which sounds not disimilar to what you describe.

They have a factory shop if you're near Banbury...

Can you link to the tile and someone might be able to help?

NigellasGuest · 01/02/2013 22:33

link to the Marrakesh range

I don't mean the curvy shaped ones but the square ones further down.

I could probably get to Banbury in an hour or so, so thanks for the info there!

savoirFaire that's the sort of idea I had in mind but are Topps really that good quality and do they have "interesting" tiles? I will have a look at their website -

wallsandfloors did me some Fired Earth crackle glazed metro tiles at about a quarter of the price. Don't know if they do any like those, though.

Have a look at Mandarin stone. They have a massive range.

I have used them a couple of times - once for a big bathroom. And their products are beautiful. I got the same tiles (from same origin as fire Earth ones I liked) and for less than half the price (these were Dijon Limestone - Triesta limestone from Egypt).

Also bought one of their stone basins for another bathroom and its stunning.
Excellent service and fab quality.
And big range.
Sadly you have just missed their 15% off which ended last week.

They also do porcelain and decorative tiles as well as full range of stone.

I can't recommend enough!

I was just going to suggest Mandarin Stone but I've been beaten to it! Their new range of decorative porcelain has only gone online from 1st Feb but they have some similar to FE I think.

mandarin stone

I've just received the Laccio in Green for my bathroom and they're absolutely gorgeous. They're still pricey at around £100pm, but I think that FE work out more like 500pm!!!

kitsmummy · 03/02/2013 08:33

maybe these??

mrsmandm · 03/02/2013 19:33

I got mine from tons of tiles - think they're even from same factory that supplies fe

tostaky · 03/02/2013 19:48
