Do you mean Aspatria in Cumbria?

I used to live in Cockermouth and Aspatria wasn't somewhere I aspired to live. It depends what's on your wishlist and where you're comparing it to.

there are lots of small village schools in cumbria.
we were looking to buy a property last year and when we realised that it was in the catchment for the secondary school in aspatria we chose not too, personally better to be nearer to wigton - more facilities and a better secondary, but would choose an outlying village for primary if you can do the transport - the infants in wigton is good but the recent ofsted for junior was a little dissappointing.

so is the secondary in aspatria no good then?

they like the idea of smaller secondary than they are at

also walking distance to both schools very important

and aspatria is only a 10 min bus from maryport

Beacon Hill is the secondary in Aspatria latest league table 31% got 5 GCSE's(if that sort of info is needed)

I can think of nicer areas, think of a time warp style 1970's.... Trinity

Cockermouth or Wigton better, although the schools maybe bigger are much more sought after with better results and you could walk between primary and secondary schools and home pretty independently...
both of these towns have local independent shops too and a lot of community vibe.
