How to treat my oak table?

Ok...so I know it's not the most exciting subject but...

I have just bought a bargainous wooden table with the intention of doing the shabby chic kind of painted style...turns out that I managed to bag myself a beautiful heavy oak table and it would be a shame to cover the gorgeous wood in farrow and ball...

So i need some advice on how to treat it to make the most of the gorgeous wood grain etc...it is already waxed in some way but has been partially sanded by the previous owner so will need treatment soon...

Any ideas? I will try to upload a pic of it if I can :)

I have a Laura Ashley oak table and I use their oil on it 2/3 a year, try to remember, Danish Oil I think, widely available. I also have two boys aged 5 & 10 who leave a trial of desctruction at every meal, but the table remains beautiful with no marks etc, seems to repel mess and stains easily.

Sand down and then use Danish Oil.
