Has anyone got composite decking?

Would you recommend it?

We are having an extension built at the moment and we will need to redo the patio area and steps down to garden. Surveyor has suggested it as he says it doesn't grow mould etc and doesn't get slippery and it would mean we could walk straight out from the extension without a step. Having looked at a couple of websites, it does look/sound good but I am wondering if there are any downsides.

We have 3 DCs under 6 and it will get heavily used, potentially with scooters on it as well.

Not got any but saw some at Grand Designs Live. It does have a 'fake' look to it (in much the same way as a laminate floor doesn't look quite like a wood floor) but is obviously considerably more practical, especially with DC. I'd say it is worth going along to look at some in person before making a decision on it.
