Do I need another bath?

We have a lot of bathrooms in the house (seven if you counted the downstairs loo). I am probably about to change my job and as a result we will probably need to move house. The house is large and four of the bedrooms have en suites, we then have a family bathroom and a further downstairs shower room. All were however last done in about 1985 from the look of them and are desperately in need of renovation if we are going to sell (or indeed even if we managed to keep the house!!).

The main bathroom is first on our list and will have a bath and separate shower since this is how it is currently laid out. All the other bathrooms only have a shower.

I feel like the house probably needs two baths with that many bathrooms. The only real place to add a bath though is DS1s bedroom. We could actually fit a double bath in here with a shower over. Other option is just a double shower (although this would probably work out more expensive)

Do you think a large bath with shower over would be a better option or do you think one bath is enough? Or does it not matter in the slightest in which case I will go and spend my time thinking about something else! Grin

how many people live in the house?

are any of them willing to share a bathroom?

is it a b&b?

How many bedrooms don't have en suite? You mentioned that 4 do. Personally I think 1 bath is fine cos you don't usually expect baths in en suites.

As long as it is the main bathroom (ie not en-suite) which has the bath I think the rest can be shower rooms.

I wouldn't buy your house unless you turned at least 4 into nice useful walk in wardrobes and storage spaces.

7 loos and 6 showers to clean Why ??????

Please say it's a two bedroom house Grin

How often do you take baths? We don't, but DS still does. I would love to just have shower stalls, if I'm honest. One bath would be plenty for us.

I'm also Grin at the sheer number of toilets in your house, but I assume it's a palatial estate! I personally think a lot of new homes waste space on ensuites when most of us would really just like more storage. Fair enough for the master bed to have one but otherwise, let them fight it out, I say. :)

We opted to put the bath in our guest bathroom and have walk in showers in the others instead of the baths that were there. We rarely rarely take baths (once every couple of months at most) and would rather have a big glass enclosed shower instead. It has been that way 7 years now and I don't regret it at all. Ours is particularly useful for washing the dogs in, so much easier than them in a bathtub.

If you are bath people you might feel differently.

If bathtub plus shower in a kids room is cheaper though and you are likely to move then I'd do it, I doubt it would be a deal breaker either way.

It would be too many for me. TBH I would redo the master and then leave the rest for the buyers to decide otherwise you risk spending ££ on new bathrooms which people may not want to keep.

It is a large house (photo on my profile actually). Thankfully we have a cleaner to do the toilets.

We have a downstairs loo a downstairs shower room, a main bathroom (which will have a bath), an ensuite and dressing room in the master bedroom and then three other bedrooms have en suites. We have five beds in the main house and a bedroom in the annexe.

To be honest only our bathroom and DS1's bathroom are really used much.

My concern is just about balance and whether it would seem odd to only have one bath but most of you don't seem to think so!

Nice house. I'd say you probably do need two bathrooms in a house that size.
