making an offer: have offered 90% of asking price and been rejected

The house has a "twin" that sold in August 2012 for the same price as our offer, but was in much better decorative condition internally.

I think it was a fair offer as it has been on the market for a while, houses in this area are not moving fast, most come down in price after a few weeks. I am not sure about raising the offer because I think I might be getting too "attached" (in poker terms)

I know I can't make them sell it to me, but do you think there is any point in mentioning the other house, what it went for?

We are outside Bristol in a nice village. We bought ours for 75k less than asking. Needed updating and bad layout, so no one else wanted it. They needed to sell so they could move abroad.

im hoping to complete on my sale in about 11 days time. I wanted a quick sale and had moved out, so empty flat ready to proceed. I deliberatly priced it lower than the other 4 flats up for sale in the block. The highest was £129, then there was 1 for £127, 2 for £125. So I put mine up for £122,500, but would accept £120. I thought this was a bargain. Not many buyers around and I needed to sell it. I got an offer for £115k, which I felt highly insulted by and said no way. Said I would reluctantly accept £118k as he was a cash buyer. He came back with an offer of £116k, which after much debate I accepted. I was gutted really but in this economic climate and the time of year I couldnt afford to turn him down. It really is a buyers market. Im surprised that your offer has not been accepted OP, keep cool. If its meant to be it will happen, If not then theres a better house waiting for you. Good Luck!
