New fireside chair

The chair I use at the moment has been fine for several years but is now giving me backache.
Can anyone find a cosy chair,with legs (so not part of a set),no wings but maybe big enough to sit sideways in.
Anything you've spotted in the sales most welcome .

Thanks LaLaL, I really don't like the first one. It wouldn't fit with the room and it's not floppable enough. The second one looks better but the colour just doesn't fit.
It's a room with a wood burner,old colours, like a snug.

Would your existing one be reupholstered and recovered if its a bit of a favourite?

Depending on your budget, graham and green have some lovely velvety types in jewel colours

The chair I used to sit in was one of those bendy,bouncy,wood and leather.
I have another chair in the room that needs reupholstering but it's not one to sit in,more 'on'.
Will have a look at G&G.

Yes,just the sort of shape I'm looking for. To me a normal sort of chair and yet so hard to find.

Chairs are tricky. I'm trying to find a nice lived-in looking leather one, and can I find one that isn't crazy money? No.

I like this one, but would probably choose the charcoal colourway.

Rhubarbgarden there was a lovely chair that would tick all your boxes used as a prop for an advert selling cashmere blankets. The advertorial was in the Saturday Telegraph Bargain section. Thrown paper out and can't find it atm.

Oh,just found. Daily Telegraph,then property,then interiors and shopping,then January bargains and the chair is in pic no 9. Nice isn't it?

Yes that's exactly what I'm after! I found one just like that recently but dh said it was a bit too battered.

Could you try antique shops / auction houses? I have just the sort of chair I think you're after but I inherited it when my grandad died.

I went to TKMaxx today & they had a few random fireside-type chairs in there - might be worth a look?

And don't buy one Harbinger, until you've sat in it or you won't know if it makes your backache worse.

Your comment would have been common sense a few years ago. Mulling it over today it dawned on me that the only shop nearby to sit on chairs (rather than sofas) caters for the elderly and those with mobility problems and I'm not there yet .
Another sign of the high street/internet shopping/out of town divide.

Have you looked at Laura Ashley? We looked for ages for a fireside chair and ended up with this:

It is traditional but quite compact if you look at the dimensions. They have a huge selection on the website and we have no complaints re service or quality.

I was pipped at the post on eBay tonight bidding for a perfect pair of battered leather armchairs. Grr. Have you looked on eBay, Harbinger?
