Planning permission for iron gates

A neighbour has applied for planning permission for iron gates operated remotely. Nobody else in the road or estate has such gates, it is a pleasant green verged locality in a conservation area. I would like to object, has anyone else any experience of this?

You can object to the application by writing to the Council. Reasons to object are just as you have described - out of character with the area, detrimental to the appearance of the area and harmful to the historic nature of the conservation area. If you are really bothered then get in touch with your local councillor who may be willing to argue your case.

If its a conservation area it will probably not be allowed.

Have a look at the plans and call your local planning officer. They are very friendly and will offer advice.
