We have just stripped back the chimney breast to brick (so quite orangey pinky). We have just put in a log burner, slate hearth. We need to carpet the floor (hard floor not an option. Due to soon-to-be-crawling baby I am not keen on a cream carpet.

What colours do suggest? I am considering very light grey walls, gunmetal carpet, cream curtains?

Have a look on Houzz for some ideas. Im due to move house in 6 weeks and have similar lounge colours in mind as you...black/grey/silver shades.

we have a mink speckle carpet, natural hessian on most walls and watercolour green on the feature walls, which seems to balance the orangey pinkness of the red brick. It's a small lounge and we have a huge ikea corner sofa in brown. Colours are dulux. It's nice and calming. I've got grey in the junk room and it just doesn't feel like a warm room.

We've recently redone our front room, used porcelain doll (dulux) which is a very light grey, with crisp white woodwork. Also did our hall recently and we used F&B cornforth white (thanks to a Mn recommendation) and I Love it, darker grey but works brilliantly with F&B strong white.
We haven't sorted out the carpet yet but looking at a v light grey, think its called quicksilver from JL.

ohhh try the dulux mousepainter !

I had great fun with that. And one day will actually paint the rooms I was trying out colour schemes for.
