No hot water from bath tap

We have a mixer tap on our bath and when I turn the hot tap on the water has been slowing to a trickle and has now completely stopped.

The cold tap is fine and the hot water to the sink and shower in the same bathroom are also fine.

I had a brief search online and thought it could possibly be a broken washer or an air pocket trapped. Any other suggestions what it could be or how easy those things would be to fix?

Thanks.

washer. Or possibly the keyhole spring clip has come off the spindle (you will see it when you take the knob off).

you need to turn off the water supply to the hot taps and take the tap apart. You will need to hold the tap steady with a big spanner while you dismantle the headworks.

You will screwdrivers to take the knob off, several wrenches, very strong wrists, packet of new washers, and some PTFE tape to wrap round the threaded parts before reassembly. A little silicone grease on the jumper will help it operate smoothly.

If the tap is one with a quarter-turn from off to on, then it has a ceramic cartridge. If you are lucky you will be able to find one to fit in less than a week.

There is bound to be a video on Videojug showing how to do it.

put an old towel into the basin to catch the metal parts and tools without scratching or cracking it.

Thanks pigletjohn, the video makes it looks reasonably straightforward! I'll give it a whirl and probably report back when I have flooded the house!
