Please help me find furniture for my bedroom - pics in profile

Hi,

I live in a large, late Victorian house. On my profile you can see a picture of my bedroom, which my husband has recently wallpapered. I love the wallpaper, but as its quite striking I am not sure how to furnish the room. It has a large north facing window, so it has quite a bit of indirect light. Can you help me find this, please?

  • a bed that fits into this style of room, bearing in mind it must be super king size and have no footboard. I have a very talk husband so i can't compromise on that.

-bedside tables and a chest of drawers.

  • some decoration for the walls, really undecided on what to have due to busy -although beautiful IMO- wallpaper.
  • at the moment only two walls are wallpapered up to picture pail level. I worry if i wallpaper the other two it will be too much, what do you think? My instinct is to wallpaper a third wall, the one that can be seem from the landing, and leave the wall behind the headboard painted.

If you can comfortably fit a super king-size bed, then you would probably get away with wallpapering all of the walls.

For decoration, I'd keep it simple - maybe a mirror or two? That would bring more light in too, if correctly positioned.

Are you keeping the same fronts on the fitted wardrobes? If possible, I'd change them, as the wallpaper's lovely, and the wardrobes are nice, but they are from two very different design eras, and don't necessarily compliment each other.

Ignoring the wardrobe issue - how about a suite in something similar in design to this ? The oak is probably not the right colour, but was thinking more from a style point?

Or maybe this one ?

Yes, the wardrobe fronts need changing. A simple wooden bedhead or iron bedframe with old-fashioned bedding (quilted eiderdown/bedspread).
