Apartments

Considering a move to an apartment (currently in 3 bed house which realistically is too much space) a decently sized apartment i.e two good bedrooms would be ample. I don't mind kitchen/diner/ living all in one space but a little balcony area to sit out on would be nice not essential though
I've always lived in houses so wondering what the downsides to apartment living are?

I've never lived in one, but my biggest worry would be noise.

People above/below - and possible on either side too. But I am very easily irritated!

My second thought would be parking. Do you have just one space? What is the deal with visitor parking? How far away from your front door is the space? I wouldn't like to have to lug the shopping across a car park and up a flight of stairs for instance.

Maintenence charge and the quality of the service. Again no experience of it, but they do seem expensive, and it seems to be very hit and miss about how well they keep the communal areas.

For me personally I would always rather have my own house, how does a 2 bed terrace stand price wise with the appartments you have seen?

I had a lovely 2 bed victorian terrace, nice big yard at the back for parking, little garden at the front so it wasn't directly on the road, and very good sized rooms. I loved that house!

the two bed terrace price wise would be the same comparatively. I don't know why I'm swinging to the apartment really and I am a bit concerned about noise. Have to weigh up the pros and cons I think
