Moving to whitstable from London

hi there
It's not original I know, but were thinking of making the move from north London to whitstable, fresh air, sea bigger property etc etc....but I'm wondering what the local view of the schools are, bit terrified tbh at the transition to the unknown. Really like Tankerton and hope to find house there but not sure what local primary is like and what the options are for secondary schools. Obs there is a grammar school system in place, but wondered how easily children from whitstable schools found places?
Any light on the matter welcome :)

Hi, we moved from Dartford down to Faversham 6 months ago and love it. We looked at whitstable but preferred the rural setting of faversham and surrounding villages, and the high speed rail link from Faversham Station. My dc joined a primary school in Sheldwich in yr 5 - they have just been rated outstanding in all areas in recent ofsted report. She will be going to Queen Elizabeth Grammar in Faversham next year. From visits to QE Grammar they did say that children from Whitstable get into Faversham ok, but I suppose there is no guarantee? I dont know what Tankerton is like to live in, but we like the little shops there (Quite Contrary Tea shop is lovely - great for baking parties).
It is a daunting decision but we have no regrets. We didnt know anybody down here but kept spending time at weekends down here just driving about the area and speaking to people in pubs... then stayed in a B&B one weekend in the winter to see if we liked it as much in the cold as we did in the sun......
good luck with your decision x
