Carport in front of garage or to the side?

Hello,

I'm seeing my architect tmr, they've sent me two options and I can't decide which I prefer...

We've a double garage and are planning an extension above it. Due to roof pitch we need to increase the ground floor to make the room upstairs big enough for what we want.
So if it was your house would you prefer to have a carport to the side of your garage or infront of it...

Something like this but with a room above or like this but attached to our house...

Car ports are generally pretty unattractive so I would put it in the least obtrusive place which I suppose is the side of the garage rather than in front of it (assuming the garage is at the front of your house).

Yes the garage is to the right of our house, I think I agree, I'm just worried it'll look really wide :S oh it's so tricky!

when you say in front of the garage, do you mean you would have to move car A to get car B out?

Yes it would mean that, which would be a tad annoying...
