I want to give dd a lovely bedroom.

We have built an extension partly to give dd a bigger room, she has profound disabilities and needs a lot of bulky equipment.

We are in a bungalow and the only way of extending made dd's room a little dark (she has cvi and actually prefers this) but I would so like it to look beautiful and I am really quite rubbish at making things look lovely. We are on a budget which isn't helping me in my searching.

I have painted the room almond white, and so far have painted one chest of drawers cream. I need to buy a rug and a bedside table.

You can get lots of lovely decal stickers now to add interest to the walls. There's a nice pack on amazon and not on the high street has a selection too.

I have a selection of flowery wall stickers I never ended up using for dd from vertbaudet that I would be happy to send you if you pm me your address?

How old is your DD? That might help with "themes".

Can you sew or use a sewing machine? You could make a bunting for her room. Letters made from material / cushion of her name on one wall. You can pick up lovely hanging ornaments from shops to hang on the chest of drawers.

Both my DDs love their Ikea wall lights, hey give off a really lovely soft glow. I can only find the blue star on their web site but they have more colours & styles in store. you can get sticky back trunking from B&Q to tidy the wire, which makes it look really neat. Cheap as chips too.

Iv visited our local children's hospice and they said the kids love trips there because the equipment they require is all hidden away or built in. Lets the kids forget about their problems a little bit.

Is it possible to something like that? Sorry I don't know much it.

My dd is 6 but with a profound cognitive delay, she loves lights so I have nice flowery lights and there is a shelf to put all her projectors on over her bed.

I've managed to get a rug, but it all looks a bit un-finished (apart from the fact that it doesn't have a door yet) and plain. I'm terrible at picking out things and have tried to avoid my usual chaotic mismatched mess and it's a bit meh.

We have built in storage for all meds/syringes etc which will be a lovely change from boxes on the floor/open shelves. There isn't room anywhere else for her standing frame/wheelchair but they are just part of every day now.

how about a bedside / wall light so the light is less harsh than an overhead light? Also, look at painting a curved layer across the back wall behind your DD's bed in pink to cut up the white a bit.

Yes, I do need to find a nice bedside light for her. Her cd player is on the bedside table too currently but I want to put up a shelf for her projector above her bed somewhere too.

Like a rainbow shape over her bed? I think it does need some colour somewhere.

Or just lower part of the wall pink and top part white or cream, so it looks a bit more cosy.

I have some left over wool in colours that would match if you'd like me to knit some bunting I'd happily do that.

How about fairy lights? You can get LED ones that are cool to touch so not at all dangerous. My 6 year old has a load twined round her bed frame and she absolutely loves them. You can often pick them up quite cheaply. You could even hang some on the wall or around the window or similar.

I have just ordered some LED lights thank you, I was worried about normal ones getting too hot, thank you.

I would be happy to pay for some bunting, I had a look locally but it was £££ per triangle and to go across the room was over £40.

It does look a bit plain currently, I will get some paint charts, I can't find the right colour, everything seems to be either too pink or too red! I may be fussing though.
