Starting a new thread, since our old one was almost full!

Anyone suffering the stresses of trying to sell a house is welcome to join us; anyone here to tell us our houses are crap and/or overpriced is not. Wink

Where are you, Augusta?

sailorsgal · 10/02/2013 20:18

Are you moving out of your area?

AugustaProdworthy · 10/02/2013 20:29

No, hoping to stay in area as quite settled but really, given a choice , I'd move away. Ideally seaside but its not going to happen!

CuddyMum · 10/02/2013 20:34

I've tidied a bit downstairs as I've got the plumber coming tomorrow to service the boiler abd gas fire!

MrsJamin · 10/02/2013 21:06

We have been a bit more lax as well. Have started sorting out the loft so we can pack stuff away ready to move. Still need to find a house though! I think my list of "must haves" may need revising...

I've been following this thread for a while and now I'm ready to join Smile

am on the market with an offer, but the people who want ours haven't sold so just waiting really.

I feel stressy and a bit rebellious, I let the kids walk in the lounge with their shoes on yesterday Blush

EdgarAllanPond · 11/02/2013 11:07

having sold....we're selling again

we've moved in with my folks to renovate their house for sale, the care of which has, aha, slipped a bit in recent years...

its not looking good today. we have water coming through the front window (which dh reckons he can fix, but he needs a good weekend to do it and we are awy next weekend) - i had done a paint job on the exterior which washed away in the deluge (yes, i used an exterior pint, and it should have had enough time to dry.)

the boiler broke irreparably three weeks ago and it is being replaced as we speak

i hope to be on the market in 6 months. that looks wildly optimistic now - stuff we painted last year is already marked!!

springlamb · 11/02/2013 11:07

As I mentioned, I'm South London, and I've been surprised by the number of FTBs who have come to view (4 out of 14). When I think of the deposit they must have, the stamp duty put aside, the legal costs and any mortgage arrangement fees - that's more than I paid for my first flat! I'd hate to be setting up home now.
As for cleaning, I aim to always have the place within 20 minutes of viewable but blimey it's hard work. Especially since I have 2 dogs. I've developed a phobia of viewers seeing anything personal of ours, such as toothbrushes (not that they're manky) so putting away is taking up time I could spend on rightmove pursuing my unaffordable dreams.

EdgarAllanPond · 11/02/2013 11:08

i am on rightmove for five minutes every dy. i wish they had a 'never show me this house ever again' option because some of them really annoy me (semis listed as detached)

EdgarAllanPond · 11/02/2013 11:10

spring i tried that and it was untenable - i was putting away ll dog stuff and my playpens for every viewing and i had a minimum 2 hour lead time.

mostly you get a days notice

it is worth hiding dog stuff, our house was bought by a woman that hates dogs.

HousewifeFromHeaven · 11/02/2013 11:26

I keep my toothbrushes in the vanity unit now, and the poor dog doesn't know whether she's coming or going. Mind you, her cushion has never been so clean!

sailorsgal · 11/02/2013 14:18

Well still haven't heared about our offer!!! I just need to know one way or another. Its a good job I don't bite my nails, I would have chewed them off by now.

Saw a lovely cottage this morning but far too small for us really. I need storage. lots of it

CuddyMum · 11/02/2013 14:50

It's off! My buyer pulled out this morning due to "personal reasons" :(

I want to cry now I'm back home from work but the plumber is coming to service the bloody boiler and gas fire!!

I officially have no finger nails.

CuddyMum · 11/02/2013 15:09

Have just taken the house off the market for a few months with the option for my local couple to buy should they ever sell. They will still match my details out to clients but I've specified proceedable people only from now on.

For some reason, I felt it coming. I do have immaculate kitchen and utility cupboards though! Onwards and upwards as they say. The girls are gutted though. I'm still going to clear out and box up the garage and have a good sort out of the kids' drawers and wardrobes.

sailorsgal · 11/02/2013 16:43

Not good new for us either. Sad Our offer would have been accepted but the original buyers are now in a better position and even upping our offer wouldn't do anything. We are now back up buyers. Hmm

sailorsgal · 11/02/2013 16:44

cuddymum is it too early for one of these. Wine

CuddyMum · 11/02/2013 17:07

Bad times! I think I need to eat before I have some Wine but my daughter has been making me lots of Brew!

AugustaProdworthy · 11/02/2013 19:53

Evening. Feedback from viewing at weekend- too small for them. Fair enough. Couple are interested but have a lot of questions.... Not sure if questions are a good sign ..,,

sailorsgal · 11/02/2013 20:31

I'm really gutted. Nearly cried in the bank Blush

CuddyMum · 11/02/2013 22:15

I held back the tears whilst my plumber was here. The only positive thing that has happened today is that the boiler and fire are serviced.

AugustaProdworthy · 12/02/2013 06:10

I'm really sorry Cuddy and Sailors. I posted last night before I'd read your posts- I'm sorry things have gone awry with your sale/purchase. This whole thing is a bloody nightmare and stressful. Hope you had a cheeky wine and slept ok.

MrsJamin · 12/02/2013 07:08

Yeah that sucks for both of you. Could say some philosophical shit like "It wasn't meant to happen" but that won't really help will it?
