Very cool but bit of a project me thinks. Loving the stairs but not the damp in the tower.

We are lucky MrsBucket, bought in London at the right time. Our London home isn't even half the size of that yet it's worth about double. crazy.

Those stairs are a piece of art. It's beautiful but worth about 6 times the amount of our three bed semi so we'll have to pass

at picture 9, that's an amazing room. It does look as though it's a nicely proportioned house.

There are signs of some serious damp, in picture 7 particularly. There are no pictures of the garden, and no mention of there being one at all in the details. It's listed, so likely to be expensive and bureaucratically time-consuming if you do any work to it.

I wonder if it might one of those seaside towns that used to have lots of B&Bs for holiday makers and now the B&Bs are being used as emergency housing. In which case there won't be a lot of money around and the shops (or lack of them) are likely to reflect that. I don't know that part of the UK at all.

Seems that someone bought it, started a renovation project and either gave up or ran out of money.

looked at the agents site and google maps etc.

its listed which means no knocking out of walls,

the house is right next to a shopping centre, and the train station, which could be noisy/busy.

it has a postage stamp garden too. its not for me but if you love it go and view it.

I might go and view it alone. Can't bear to take DP at this stage. He trained as an architect orignally (although he doesn't do that now) and he'll start banging on about girders and stuff.

you wouldnt be able to change any of the main structure without planning permission, which has to be aproved by conservation officer and planning commity.

if you have google maps you can look at the local area on street view.

St Leonards is supposed to have a high level of deprivation and some drugs problems, I think.

Are we getting the same Streetview? I can't see a shopping centre or an office block. Seems to be a quiet, if shabby, residential road of mostly Georgian houses. There's a couple of 1950s/60s houses next to this one, but they are the only exception. The garden from the aerial view looks to be not huge, but not a postage stamp (not by London standards anyway).

Of the three nearest primaries, two have over 30% of pupils on free school meals, so the lower income of the area would help keep property prices lower.

I'd say it's a labour of love. It looks like a good £150k before you touch it with a paintbrush. If you love it, it's worth a weekend at the seaside to see how you feel about the area.

Check out other houses, they may well have all been converted into flats. So possible parking issues too. See if you can see other property values for the road for similar houses which have been reonvated. I don't think you are going to make a killing tbh, if that is what you are after.

Also, it looks like all (nearly all) the other big houses on the street are split into flats.

St Leonards is OK - nothing amazing. Has a bit of a rep in parts but generally I think of 'boring' as it is mainly older generation that live there. Depends what stage you are at. There is a good school nearby, a couple actually I think but I would deffo go and have a look at shops etc first, as a few years back it only had a small selection. Hastings has more now, but again also dodgey areas, despite the media Old Town hype.

it's not an office block - just 70s style housing on its right (being a bit dense at using Streetview)

I think I need to spend the day in the area. We have the world's worst neighbours where we are now would be awful to move and get the same again!

There is lots happening in St Leonards tho, and lots earmarked to happen. There are grotty bits, but they aren't frightening grotty bits iyswim. Depends what you want.
