Corian worktops - yes or no?

New kitchen - used to have granite which were great but think I prefer corian - any ideas on the properties of corian etc????

We have it at work - NOT in a kitchen. We're quite intrigued as an unused and entirely empty room has a large chip in the Corian, which is supposed to be indestructable. We occasionally amuse ourselves by wondering what might have caused it.

Really! Eeekk - I thought it was fairly indestructible. DM has had it for 14 years and not a mark.

We have Maia which is v similar but much cheaper. I love it. Less colours though.

Corian isnt promoted as indestructible - they sell it with a repair kit, so that should raise a few eyebrows.
any acrylic top is prone to scratch, can stain a little and not 100% heat resistant.
My Dh does kitchens and wouldnt promote it unless the customer really wants it, yet he tells them about the above. Corian is very nice to look at and the seemless look and added design flexibility, but will also work out more expensive than quartz, quartz being more durable.

I'm not keen on Corian, it feels plasticky. I much prefer granite or quartz.

I have Corian in my kitchen and I love the moulded splash backs and sink, it does come with a repair kit for minor damage and they say they will come and repair any major damage.
However, I read somewhere about it scratching, as my kitchen is north facing I hadn't noticed that it is actually covered in very fine scratches - I could probably get rid of them with the repair kit but it isn't worth the faff. So I would recommend being careful using Corian where there is a lot of natural light, having said that mine has been in for about 8 years and I'm not exactly gentle with it .

We have it in our rental property and it has a couple of chips in it - I think it's an 80's kitchen from the style. On my experience with it I wouldn't have it - just find it marks easily, and although you can get the marks out I find it a pain.
