Help! I need a new boiler!

So we've just moved into our new house and the roof is leaking, the oven broke today and our builder has told us the boiler is very old and no plumber is likely to move it when we redo the kitchen (which needs to be very soon as we need working oven). So help me wise MNers, what boiler should I go for? What do I need to know to make an informed decision? It is a decent sized, old, 3 bed house which will eventually have 2 shower rooms (one in the converted loft we are planning). I need enough power / hot water for several showers as we've got frequent guests. out of my depth but need to appear informed and boiler savvy

We have a combo boiler which serves our four bed two bath house perfectly well. You need to consider whether you want a traditional hot water tank/boiler combo or a combo. That will depend on the possible header tank height for your showers and whether you want power showers (which need larger tanks). Best thing to do is work with your plumber on what your plans are for the kitchen/bathrooms and he can then install the appropriate boiler.
