Food smells coming from next door

We have recently moved into an Edwardian semi-detached property. Several evenings a week, the back room, which we use as the playroom, smells very strongly of food, and it's definitely not ours. This is very puzzling because this particular room doesn't share a wall with next door's kitchen. I don't know if this sounds ridiculous but I think that perhaps the smell seeps through the floorboards. We have original floorboards and there are some gaps between them. There's also a fireplace. Is there anything we can do to stop the food smells from reaching our property, preferably something that isn't structural? TIA.

It probably is the floorboards, and you should fill them regardless of food smells because you'll lose heat with gaps - you can get some clear resin stuff.

Yes, you can buy it and do it yourself but it's a bit of a faff. You're looking for clear mastik.

It also occured to me that it could be the Borrowers.

So if not me, who would do this? Apart from my husband that is. I mean, do I call a builder or who really?
