...a tiny room, 1.8m x 1.8m is unrendered bare brick but you are ecstatic!

Namely, The Bathroom.

There is a pictorial on my profile that I've just uploaded as, after all, a picture paints a thousand words.

Been walking on air today and yet there is still a lonnnnng way to go before we hopefully move in before Christmas

Like, choosing tiles. Oh, how I am coming to hate tiles...

What ridiculous things have made you insanely happy during a renovation? And, no, you're not allowed to say 'when it was all finished' Grin

(also, what tiles shall I get and where? I was thinking I'd only tile around the bath but up to the ceiling, or just half way? There is a shower over the bath at the tap end (but 'in' the wall)

Being able to have a bath.

Being able to take my glasses off while having a bath so I couldn't see all the work that still needed doing in the bathroom.

No, TBH, right at the moment I'm finding it a bit much :(

I sometimes forget that some people don't have a skip on their drive, scaffolding in their lounge and do have fully functioning plumbing.

It will be all worth it, it will be all worth it..

Mine is so nearly done. Moving furniture out of storage on Monday. Just a few final bits to go (I know they will take weeks). It looks fab. We have created an amazing space. It has cost a fortune. It will all be worth it.]

Sofa..and a bath. Yes please.

I second choosing floor first. I wish I had. I tiled throughout though so never had to paint.

MandaHugNKiss · 24/11/2012 01:30

Floor first. Right. I'd read that was the way to go.

My lovely builder has some great floor tiles that he's willing to virtually give to me... and I do like them. But I'm not sure if I like them, like them, or I like them because they are tasteful and cheap!

They're a light natural stone of some sort. Probably travertine (but pale/whiteish, not like the more beige-y looking stuff I've seen on my travels, as it were).

I'm tiling the bath in, too. Something shimmery to tone colour but contrast finish (like the cayman champagne)? Or something match-y match-y, but different sized for interest (like a tumbled travertine mosaic?)

Oh, I don't know. I should be sleeping.

Oh I am with you. We are almost done after almost a year of renovating. Although I suspect the final 10% will take another year.
Tiles - check out tons of tiles website. They are basically fired earth copies, miles cheaper. We've got white plain matt flat metro tiles with painted 2 walls and 2 cupboards in soft farrow and ball colours and it looks amazing. It's all
About the taps!
