Hello,
DH and I are planning an extension.
I've just had the initial drawings (sketches) back from the architect and I hate them. Rather than just saying that, I want to send him some ideas of mine to play with.
Anyway, I may have a few questions in the next hour or so for you :)
First one...
Our house is on a slope with the garage to the right of the house at the highest point.
The garage is a double detached and then we have a walk way about a metre wide the walkway is about a metre lower than the garage floor.
Next to the walk way within the house is from the front, a bathroom, a utility room with a doorway into the walkway, part of our kitchen which faces the back of the house (there is another door out to the garden from the kitchen).
Ok, would you put doors on either end of the walkway, remove the door from the utility room, add a new door into the garage. Therefore making the utility room have a long corridor in it from the front of the house to the back.
Or, would you block up the walkway half way making the utility room rectangle (taking some of the walkway) and having a door to the front and one to the garage, but give the rest of the walkway to the garage, making the garage slightly wider at the back (storage?).
Do you think it's essential to have access to the back garden from the utility room, I guess is the major question.
Sorry for the essay!
