Anyone had any experience with reducing Radon levels?

We've just got our readings back and they are WAAAAY over action level. So we'll have to get a Radon sump pump thingy put in. On the plus side, we did get a Radon Bond from the vendors so at least have some money to put towards it, on the other hand, house is old and listed so work likely to be complicated...

I would be really interested to hear anyones experience of dealing with Radon and any recommendations for specialists would be welcome!

Do you have solid floors with the membrane fitted?

Ummm, kitchen is a newer extension and has laminate with unknown underneath, probably solid I suspect. The rest of the house is a mixture of flagstones, carpeted and old tiles with unknown underneath...a real mixture. I would imagine that all floors are basically solid with 500 odd years worth of assorted layers on top.... sob!
