What is the best lining for silk curtains

Hi,
I am having some silk curtains made but I can't decide what lining to go for. I have a pair from Laura Ashley which are interlined and lined but they look really stiff and it is not nice. I would like to be able to keep the curtains fluid. However, my window faces south, so I know I have to line them properly.
Does anyone have any experience? I already read all the existing blogs but I have found the answer I am looking for...

I got a pair made from someone on ebay using silk also bought on ebay. I got them interlined with a blackout lining. They don't look stiff, just opulent! Mind you, they are floor length for patio windows. I suppose if they were sill length then they might look a bit odd. They also have weighted corners which I'm sure probably help how they hang.

You can line them with ordinary lining or leave them unlined BUT the sunlight rots silk and the curtains will not last very long.
the traditional lined and interlined silk curtains are not fluid and may seem stiff and formal but if you want fluidity then a synthetic fabric would have been a better choice.
Most people chose silk for the opulence and formality.

I have silk curtains which are interlinked with wha looks like a white flannette sheet (!). It does practically nothing. I bought clip on blackout linings & that wasn't much good, so now have velcro on the linings which ipinattach to the window frame every night. I thought a blackout rollerblind might work, but it's on doors which open inward.

where i work we sell a curtain lining called sol proof its 100% cotton, comes in 4 colours, is 54" wide (or 137cm) and has been treated with a uv protector to stop the fabric fading and rotting as quickly in sunlight. thats the one i'd use.

Pure silk requires protection because it is a natural fabric which will erode if it is not cared for. It depends whether you are considering the finish or longevity. It's lovely to have them unlined to allow beautiful fresh sunlight to filter through the cloth, but to look after your curtains I would advise a high quality blackout lining with interlining.
