Painting floor tiles.

We have floor tiles in our very small entrance porch.
They are generally in OK condition but a very drab colour.
I would prefer not to take them up but, could I paint over them to change the colour or, would it all start to peel off and look horendous in a few months?
Any experience or thoughts gratefully received.

Ours too - that very dull brown. We just have a very large doormat :o

Tiling over would be difficult due to changes needed then to external front door and threshold thingy.
I know you can paint over wall tiles and we have a painted concrete step which stands up to wear and tear quite well but just wondered about painting floor tiles.
