Has anyone used Moduleo flooring?

Saw this in a shop whilst looking for carpets, have previously been put off vinal floorings as they are sealed/fixed and I wanted to be able to lift floors if needed (bitter experience) apparently this system can be taken up and relayed relatively easily. What's the catch?!

We have yellow/orange pine floors which are noisy, dirty, cracked, cold and look a mess. Had pretty much decided to carpet over, but its hallway and playroom flooring, which is bound to get stained within a week of it being fitted isn't it?

Things I wished I had known before installing Moduleo but having read this when looking for reviews......

The retailers listed on their website are merely stockists that have a bigger display than others. They are in no way vetted as an approved stockist.
Not all stockists fit Moduleo to the standards as specified by Moduleo for a warrantied fit.

When they don't follow these procedures your floor will look aweful, will be full of problems from the get go and because its the supplier & fitter did it wrong you're on your own trying to get it resolved despite you choosing this retailer from the Moduleo website.

6 months in now and a few more grey hairs than I needed and they are still recommended on the Moduleo Website!

Its also worth noting when looking at any LVT there is a huge difference when it comes to 0.3 or 0.4mm. It sounds miniscule but the thicker you can get the better.

Had a moduleo flooring laid 2013. Less than 2 years later it was all discoloured. After much hassle with the retailer. Moduleo came up and the rep informed me that I shouldn't be using normal floor cleaners on it. The retailer sent a sample to moduleo and results came back confirming it was caused by non recommended cleaning products. Retailer not taking responsibility for not giving care instructions or recommending xtrafloor cleaning products. Moduleo not interested in the fact that their retailers do not pass on this info to consumers. Both moduleo and retailer use the fact that the info is available on the moduleo website as a cop out! Moduleo rep hasnt replied with information I have requested on numerous occasions and I am now having to write formal letters to the retailer here in Aberdeen and take further instruction from citizens advice. What a waste of £1245 for a floor that now looks awful. And out of principle I wouldn't ever use moduleo again because of the way I have been treated.

Do you have a response to what the following 2 people have said ?

I was about to purchase 50m2 of the impress range but having read there comments I am seriously considering taking my money else where.

Moduleo state a 20 year guarantee on your impress range and at no point does it state it has to be Professionally fitted.

I am a very good at DIY and have fitted several floating laminate floors in the past and am certainly more than capable to lay this flooring, but I am now put off with the statement made that for the flooring to be covered by your guarantee it needs to be professionally fitted is this the case ?

Went to see Moduleo in a showroom today and was specifically told that unlike Karndean or Amtico, it does not have to be fitted by a registered fitter in order for the guarantee to hold. Currently have a joinery company carrying out conversion works and was told that there would not be any issue with them carrying out the fitting. Now wondering if this would be the case.
Incidentally I am quite impressed with some of the range particularly the new Impress.

It's clearly written in there.

And by the way, never use hard floor cleaner on vinyle!
You'll discolore it! That's a no brainer.
It's like using Head&Shoulders shampoo on colored hairs... Did the drugstore cleark really need to specify?

Monduleo, I wish that I had never heard of them.
Spent £1550 on their Click planking which did not lay flat at the Click joint.
Sample sent to Belgium factory for inspection to be found within specification,what specification?
Monduleo did offer to replace flooring as a goodwill gesture but I have to pay to have it laid circa £ 500.
I offered to take a smaller amount of their cheaper Dryback flooring with them giving me a percentage of the saving to go towards the extra cost of laying the Dryback planking but they refused point blank.Twice.
I have sent numerous Emails to their CEO Me David Bigland who just ignores me for reasons best known to him

Moduleo Flooring Beware

We have had major issues with Moduleo flooring. Late last year 2015 we renovated the ground floor of our house and went for the Moduleo dry back Transform VERDON OAK 24280. The flooring was purchased from a local flooring supplier near our home, they also fit Amtico and Karndean, their fitters who laid the flooring are all NICF (National Institute of Carpet and Floorlayers) registered.

The floor was being layed on newly laid flooring grade plywood. The recommendation was for 6mm ply, our builder who is known to us and has many years’ experience in house renovation, chose 12mm high quality flooring/marine ply for the installation. The flooring was screwed down every 6 inches and was fully level and sold. The flooring was left for 3 months before the flooring installation as we had other works going on and the flooring was one of the last parts of the prices. The Plywood was bone dry prior to installation. The flooring company inspected the flooring twice before installation and the floor layers where very happy with the subfloor.

The company levelled areas that needed levelling and feather edge filled all screw holes prior to laying the floor. The floor was laid in September last year. After a short time we noticed that gaps were beginning got appear between the Moduleo flooring, and the product had shrunk. We waited 7 weeks for the Moduleo rep to attend out house. On the day of the inspection (I use this in the loosest possible terms) he wandered around for 5 minutes and took a few photographs on his phone. He lifted one tiny corner or a flooring tile for 5 seconds and said he would have to consult his technical department.

When the report was received it stated that the wrong flooring ply had been put down, I find this very hard to believe as the rep did not even inspect the ply that had been laid. Also the experienced professionally registered floor fitters, agreed the ply was of a far superior grade that was required. This is the same flooring ply used for Amtico and Karndean installs. I have also studied the Moduleo installation instructions for this product and no specification of ply is given. We know the product was defective as when our fitters replaced one of the shrunk tiles, with a tile that I had stored from the left over install; it fitted perfectly. Proving the product that was removed had shrunk

We had shrinking to random tiles throughout our ground floor install. We had to have the entire floor taken up and binned and this caused massive upheaval and upset. Moduleo have not offered any recompense and have not even contacted me since. Telling our flooring supplier their only option was to sue them for the money.

We have now had new Karndean fitted at the expense of our flooring company, this was fitted on the same flooring ply and is perfect. Beware of Moduleo the product is questionable and their customer service is even worse.

I've recently fitted a moduleo floor as part of a fantastic kitchen my company as just installed .

Three weeks later the floor has moved !!!

Gaps showing everywhere !

I checked and double checked with the supplier if it was compatible with underfloor heating , in my proffesional opinion ....it's not !

My opinion is that the floor becomes supple even with the floors recommend temperature output .

I've yet to get a resolution from the suppliers .....

I'm a time served joiner and tradesman with extensive experience in most Trades and I've ran my own company for ten years with any comebacks .

If I'd have not listened to the suppliers I'd have Bought alternatives :(

BE WARNED , SHOP ELSEWHERE !!!

I have had Moduleo flooring fitted throughout my apartment by my local supplier as listed on the Moduleo website. Flooring has been down 3 years now and looks the same as when first installed.

I had a few quotes And didn't go for the cheapest and the local supplier was recommended by Moduleo and he gave us great advice on installation and after care etc.

I got the impression that this type of flooring is all about correct preparation and maintenance, if this is done properly then you shouldn't have any problems.

Will use Moduleo in our new house that we hopefully moving into soon.

Very disappointed in Moduleo Flooring not offering a finishing product when the floor is finished against for example bi-fold doors. They advise to leave an expansion gap but offer no solution on how to finish the floor?
Spoke to the northern sales rep who when I asked about the products recommended to resolve such issues on the Moduleo website said they were not available and just said speak to your supplier for a solution!!! why would I fit a different product (colour style etc) to finish their floor??

Moduleo customer service is unacceptable. Just recieved 25% back of my cost of the floor. Only took 3 to resolve! And i had to attack with tenacity, after admitting the product was defective they did all they could to get out of it. This was due to manufacturing faults. Avoid at all costs. My Kardean is perfect.

We purchased Moduleo flooring...what a dissappointment ...after only a matter of weeks it started to look worn. It's supposed to have 20 year guarantee for domestic use and 10 years for commercial use.
It's an absolute disgrace that it is so expensive...we bought one around 28 metre.....with it being promoted as hard wearing. We walk round in either bare feet or slippers, never do we wear shoes indoors. We have had it for around 18 mths and it looks so worn that we're considering getting a carpet fitted over it. We only ever mop over it with water with dettox in it which is a really gentle cleaner. Moduleo suggested that we should use their specialist cleaner......but no where does it specify this on the web site....it indicates that no specialist cleaner is needed. It's the biggest waste of money ever and we've had cheap flooring that's been far better wearing. We're still pursuing a complaint and are considering Court if need be, as it definitely doesn't do what it says on the tin. Customer services are crap......I am not alone with my criticism so something has got to be wrong with the product and the company, not honouring the guarantees they 'provide' has also got to be illegal

I have had Karndean tiles down in my kitchen for 17yrs (concrete floor) and it's still like new and was from the cheaper range (knight tile). Also I have one of the dearer planks in the lounge diner and again it's like new after 11 yrs. If I was to change it would only be because I wanted a change of decor and I would definitely choose Karndean again.

Does anyone have any positive experience about their Moduleo LVT flooring (that doesn't sell or resell their product)? Anyone know if the product has been substantially updated in recent years?

It has not been substantially updated.

Virtually all problems that occur with Moduleo, Amtico & Karndean (all LVT’s Laminated Vinyl Tiles) relate to bad advice from retailers or incorrect fitting.

I own a flooring business that not so long ago sold about £250000 worth of Amtico every year.

As a business we have moved on from these products as they have become too popular.

To explain

The amount of people wanting these products has grown hugely over the last 10 years.

These products have a very low manufacturing cost compared to selling price of product

This allows significant marketing of product

To facilitate this growth the manufacturers have opened up with more and more retailers all desperate for a a slice of the action.

The more retailers there are the cheaper the price becomes to the customer as lots of people shop around. The retailers all slug it out on who is the cheapest (virtually every advert you ever see for flooring of any kind is one telling you they are the cheapest - not we are not the cheapest but we are excellent!)

Everyone trying to be the cheapest doesn’t leave any money for training staff or training fitters but it does mean cheap prices (I know you may not think your floor was cheap - it wasn’t I’m sure - I mean relatively cheap - buying cheap ply, getting fitters that are a few pounds a square meter cheaper etc.

Needless to say I don’t really care for selling these LVT products so much any more as I think it is a lot of money for a plastic tile.

Consider the very best in laminate - Berry Alloc (it must be the high pressure laminate as opposed to the direct bond)

This will cost £35 - £45 for the laminate however it is indestructible

Monduleo Flooring - Totally dissappointed in products - wish I had seen these posts before we purchased this flooring.. 2 weeks after installation we have had weird scuffs appearing - we do not wear shoes in the house, do not have any pets and its only just caused by living. We had the technician call in, he tries different products to remove the marks (even though they advertise and Mark and Scuff resistant) and basically sent a report back. that we have to purchase new flooring form them... Well - I am not impressed and I am really struggling to get them to even acknowledge that this is an issue with their product and they are falsely advertising that this is scuff proof but it clearly is not... I was wondering if anyone had any advice on the best next steps.. They are cheap and certainly expect the flooring to at least last longer than this without any scuffs...

Avoid this flooring! The biggest waste of money I have ever spent.

Please be careful when purchasing this flooring if you have a modern house layout with bifold doors, windows etc. We had moduleo LVT flooring laid throughout the whole of our downstairs back in 2019 and in less than two years..... areas of it that are near the windows and doors have faded so much that those areas are now green and not the brownish grey colour we originally bought. I have contacted moduleo UK and have basically been told that their flooring is tested and passes all the relevant checks that are required and that it’s my fault for having too much sunlight coming into my room!!!

We had moduleo fitted throughout downstairs in 2017, we haven't done anything particular to care for it but I think it's held up really well! I regret putting a rubber Matt at the front and back door as it's completely bleached the colour beneath but that's totally my fault for not reading care instructions.
I've only ever cleaned it with the flash mop wipe things (not sure if that's a no no or not but it works).
I do find that since we had our garden landscaped, the dogs paws and shoes has engrained mud into the grain of the planks which is annoying and the flash wipes don't budge it and I've got not idea how to get it out!

Overall, I think it's been pretty good and am now awaiting a quote to have more put into our new extension.

So glad I’ve seen this as we were just about to buy some tomorrow I definitely won’t be now and will be looking for a different product. I hate bad customer service. Hopefully the MD who appeared on here will realise that good customer service is ultimately what makes a company a success.
