Re-enamelling a bath

I have inherited a beautiful yet trashed roll top bath when we bought our house which I'd love to restore. I've been looking at the options an it seems I can get a chap to come round and spray enamel type paint or send it of to get properly kiln fired reenamelled.
Has anyone done either option and what was the result? Has anyone any advice?

I've had my old roll top bath re-done (not sure if the finish is enamel) and it's lovely.

It cost £260 a few years ago and took all day to do. The guy masked off everything in the bathroom and sprayed on several coats.

Although easily damaged - you couldn't bath a dog in it for example - it's actually quite durable and I use normal bathroom cleaner on it.

I'd recommend the non-slip strips that can be incorporated into the finish as well.
