Any views on Dorking and surrounding villages? Just general stuff really, how nice you think it is, pros and cons, and opinions on commute to London. Thanks

Nice generally but be wary of going towards Horsham as you may be on the Gatwick flight path.

Dorking is very nice. I have a friend who lived there and has just moved to Westcott which is just outside the town. Can't think of any major negatives...umm...the high st is fine but not extensive. You need to go Guildford or Kingston for decent shops. Gorgeous countryside going in the Guildford direction.

Dsis lives in East Horsley, which is alright
it's on the train - about 45-50 mins to Waterloo

Personally I am not too keen on Dorking. I prefer the Bookham / Effingham and surrounding areas. Horsley is pretty nice too.
