Cost of new roof?

Hi there, we're moving into a 3 bed semi-detached Edwardian house. I know this is a bit how-long-a-piece-of-string q, but does anyone have any clue how much a re-roof is likely to cost please (we are in Manchester)? It is a pitched slate roof. Thanks for any advice!

No idea about Manchester but I had one in Essex done last year and it was £6000 for the roof and £700 to replace some rotting timbers

Near impossible to say, it depends on the size of the roof really. Other things you need to factor in is roofing felt, roofing lathes, damaged or rotted timbers and wood treatment, lead valleys and chimney lead and the actual replacement slates themselves. Roof access is ls another consideration that will dictate the price so best get a few estimates first, you may be able to recover some of the cost by reselling your old slates which can be worth quite a bit of money.

Great, thanks noisytoys. Bureni, I know you are right and we are getting quotes...just I'm impatient! Love the idea about reselling the old slates.
