Kitchen walls

We have got planning permission through for our kitchen diner extension so, as a nice change to hyperventilating over builders quotes, I'm decorating walls we don't have yet!

I'm planning on cream shaker doors for the kitchen units but recently visited a friend who had had something similar put in her kitchen with what I suspect is magnolia walls - and it just looked bland :(

Any suggestions for warm neutral child proof colours, with oak laminate flooring and wooden work surface? It will be a long room with the sink by a south facing window with a tall hedge v close, and patio doors into the north facing garden at the dining end.

Also its going to be quite open plan - should we think about doing kitchen diner playroom lounge hall in the same colour(s)?

Thank you kind people of taste :)
