Aaaaahhh kitchen designs to island in kitchen or not??

Aaaaahhhh! Recovering house after massive flood.
Consequently complete house refit including kitchen.
Have had one designed with an awesome island that seats 6, but have been pointed out that mil can't sit easily on barstool style chair. What do I do? She comes twice a month but spends a lot of time in front of the tv so not in kitchen....

Anyone got an island? Love it? Hate it? Tell me .....

Is there another table you can eat at when MIL is there? I'm not sure I'd want to eat all the time at an island so, if there isn't a place for a table, I'd say don't do it.
