Rebuilding chimney - eeeeeek

Our shared chimney stack is leaning and needs rebuilding. We're in London and have been quoted £5k + VAT for this. I just wanted to share my pain, and was wondering if anyone knew if this was about right or could recommend anyone who had done similar work for them.

Thanks

Is there a reason why it is leaning? Have either you or your neighbour spoken to your own building insurers to see if it is covered under insurance or is it just a case of age and wear and tear?

It's age - 1925 house, lots of the stacks are leaning, not just ours. The insurance won't help because whisper we don't have any at the moment.

We need ours rebuilding because of damp, which has penetrated the stack so badly that it has blown its pointing out twice, so I will watch this thread with interest.

Sadly our chimney is just ours and not shared.
