Talk to me about green

I want a green paint for DSs bedroom but have nine samples on the wall already and can't decide . I'm after a green that isn't yellow, grey or blue and is quite pale as the furniture is fairly dark wood.

It needs to be Dulux as the decorator is using Dulux Trade but can be any of their shades. I'm really flummoxed because I know what I want in my head but none of the shades on the wall seem to be right ? the colours seem to go from almost white to really quite green IYKWIM.

So what am I looking for?

Does this include the mix-to-order colours?

Will you do all the walls the same colour? Gives you more flexibility to use a darker colour

I had SO MUCH trouble finding a green for our spare room. In the end I ended up with a bit of fabric that was a pretty green, and the dulux mixing desk man scanned it for me. I ended up with Celtic Forest 5 (I think!). Its quite a sludgy green, which I like.

Anyway, picking from paint tester pots can be really hard, so I would look around your house for ANYTHING that's the green you like (a book? A bit of clothing?) and get them to scan it. I've also done this with other brand paint samples - just take in a bit of cardboard with some dried paint on it (I wanted F and B house white for our bedroom, everywhere had sold out, I needed it there and then and ended up with dulux's version of it).

Yes any off the shelf or mix-to-order colour.

I think we will probably do all one colour because the room isn't that big so with the window, door and all the furniture there isn't that much free wall space - although having a darker wall is not something I've ruled out but then I need to find two colours .

I liked Granada Green and Jade Garden (I think!).

I've just pained my hallway in a lovely sage colour but that is, I think, too blue and grey for your requirements. And wasn't .dulux :o

I used one from www.dulux.co.uk/colour/celtic_moor_4 this range. Probably no 2. I'd just use white as the other color - too much stress to think of 2 colours. It's definitely green though

What I really want is the colour my friend has in all of her bedrooms but she can't remember what it is. She thinks it's an off-the-shelf Dulux Apple something but I've got Soft Apple and Apple White and neither of them look like what she's got.

I found out that Dulux do an app that allows you to scan things with your phone and it finds the nearest Dulux colour so I could scan the wall but my friend's on holiday now. Thanks for the tip, I didn't realise the shops would do the same thing ? I shall hunt around the house and see if I can find anything that looks the right colour and take it to Homebase.

There's a couple of samples that look OK but it's so hard to know what a whole room will look like. I hate choosing paint .

Dulux used to do a nice green called Apple Basket. Might still do it!

If it is Apple Basket and it has been discontinued they can still enter the name into the machine and mix it up (found this out after having a panic in B&Q some years back).

I think it has been discontinued, I found Apple Basket and Apple Blossom that look like they're old ones. On the website I like Apple White but the tester is a bit meh.

Why don't they put proper paint in the tester pots? It makes them pointless. The ones I had mixed look and smell like real paint but the ready-made ones don't smell of anything so what is it in there? Do I trust the pictures, the tester or neither?
