Shallow depth electric oven help!

So our built-in oven packed in last week, and we odered a new one. Measured up, looked at the depth of the worktop all seemed fine.

New oven delivered today, old one taken away. We go to fit it ( in what should be a simple slot in, plug in and screw in place) to find that the pipe for the gas hob comes out enough to stop the oven from fitting properly. We didn't think this would be a problem, and are now trying to find a replacement oven that has a depth of about 51cm.

Anyone got any advice for us? The alternative is getting the gas pipe removed completely and replacing the gas hob with an electric one, but that seems so expensive...

Do you need an oven that is less deep overall or is it possible that one that is a slightly different shape at the back will have clearance for the gas pipe?

For example, the top 20cm of our oven unit is only 41cm deep.

you will need a gas-safe engineer for this. He will probably run it in 15mm copper, even if the old pipe is iron barrel (they don't like working in iron).

it might take an hour or two's work, and he will check for pressure loss (leakage) before going.

We've had another look at it. The gas pipe runs right up the middle at the back, and that's what it stopping it from fitting. A less deep pipe would make things easier, but I think if we had the pipe running right up the side of the back (if that makes sense) then this oven would fit. It's just a nightmare, should have been so simple!

Sounds like re-routing the pipe is going to be the easiest option. Any ideas roughly the cost?

In that case I'd get a gas safe plumber out, it shouldn't be too expensive. We paid 100 pounds to have our gas supply moved, and new gas supply connected to hob, hob re-tested etc. Yours would be a much simpler job (we were moving supply a fair distance (copper pipe is expensive) and had plumbers in at two stages).
