Warm front vs landlord loft insulation

Not sure if this is the right place to post but here goes....

I applied to warm front and the surveyor is coming to look at my loft at the end of the month to see if its deep enough etc.

I know part of the application process was them contacting my landlord to let them know.

Had a call from letting agent today saying the landlord would install the new insulation using a company of their choice and it would be 27cm deep iirc.

Letting agent then went on to tell me, no, order me to cancel the warm front survey. I told him I would do my own research before I cancelled anything. Letting agent got a bit shouty and patronising.

Am I being had somehow? I don't think either option is costing me anything.

I'd probably get your landlord's promise in writing but 27cm is the recommended depth so I don't think you need worry. I wouldn't be too keen on my tenants installing loft insulation without consulting me first so maybe he just thinks you're being a bit forward. It probably would have been a good idea for him to lag the loft before now though.

Thanks. I have consulted the ll plus WF did as well and thru only booked a surveyor - I presume they have to get permission prior to the actual installation anyway.
What's up there is less than 10cm so v out of date anyway.

Hmm so landlord says he will do it, but would prefer to use a company of his choosing to make an improvement to a building that he owns not certain that he is being unreasonable.

He has only stated he will do it because I contacted warm front myself - I'm not kidding myself anything would happen otherwise - also I didn't accuse anyone of BU - I am simply asking for advice as I don't know much about it.

If our tenants did what you've done without speaking to us first I would be seriously hacked off. I would be even more hacked off if I told them to cancel the surveyor and they refused. It's up to the landlord to do improvements to your house, not you. You can ask him to do work but it's entirely up to him if he does it or who he gets to do it.

You need to cancel the surveyor and let the landlord sort out the insulation.

Nocake - how is getting an independent opinion such a huge crime? Until I have the survey I won't know 1. If anything even needs doing and 2. If I am even eligible since the call centre were unable to ascertain this.
Until I sold my flat I was a landlord and I ran a portfolio of rentals with my ex partner. I can't see why I would be bothered if my tenants arranged to improve the loft insulation through a government scheme which would cost me less than doing it myself.
It's not as if I want to knock a wall down ffs.
