Cheshire - preferably a village

I'm looking for somewhere that's a pleasant environment for a single older woman - a place I'd feel safe walking during the day and can sleep at night. So I suppose I'm looking for a relatively low crime rate. I'd like a railway station if possible. Definitely a pub. Ideally a greengrocer. Nice country walks. Some social activity would be great too as I'd like to meet new people and make some more friends.
Schools aren't a consideration.

Hi joyved roughly what part of Cheshire are you looking at?

tedglenn · 20/10/2012 08:27

bollington and prestbury fit the bill (both served by railway station at nearby adlington)

sorry, just remembered prestbury has its own station!

I was thinking somewhere like Wrenbury on outskirts of Nantwich but I didn't know whether OP would want to be that far south?

Very good if you don't drive as you can get to Crewe station in two stops and you can get to anywhere from there.
