A support thread for those about to move to a new area - Relocation jitters!

Is there ayone else out there in the position of getting ready to relocate their family?
Thought I could try to build up our courage and motivation here.

just to add. I think it adds a dimension when the kids are older. I moved before when pregnant and oldest was preschool. He started into reception and was more or less like anyone else at the new school, perhaps just a little trickier without big roots in the area or local preschool but ok. Being pregnant def difficult; emotionally and physically. But have to say I feel so much worse this time as I know this will be very hard on the kids as they are now properley rooted. shit

Yes. I am. Should be exchanging in the next couple of days keepingfingersfirmlycrossedalthoughwanttocry and completing next week. Feeling incredibly stressed out at the moment though because we are still waiting for exchange and my decorator has gone awol (friend of my Dad's who lives in the area) which is less than ideal as I wanted to get the place painted before we moved in. Now I am going to have to get the most urgent rooms done for the same cost as the whole house. Plus I am now in 'get everything sorted' mode and in reality I can't do, or book anything until we have aaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh. Hubby is away so I have to deal with everything and I think I am beginning to feel the enormity of the situation now.

Yes, looking at moving out of London this year to a small town, arghhhh. Have three children all in school (one pre-school) so it's a big move. The place we're moving to is small and the market is very slow so we haven't seen anything we like yet, hence our own house is not on the market yet. There are barely any rental properties so it's not like moving into rental would be an option either. It feels like everything is ina state of flux and yet nothing is happening arghh.

Oh and one other thing....secondary schools! I have to appeal a refusal too. Grrr. I need to write a verylong list.

Yes, DH and I are in the process of moving out of Central London to Kent. No children yet so it's just us and I'm feeling The Fear!

If it is any consolation OP this will be our fourth (and final) move in four years. The others (overseas) were far less stressful than this.

Hi everyone and major sympathy to Wizard. Seems like in that acute phase when things never seem to go right to plan.
I'm at the 'conception' bit. Move will follow in about 10 months. It could also potentially fall through dependent on DH's work. We have to go through with it if offered though.
Panicking about secondary school places. Wondering if we have the money for private to avoid the lottery. Probably not.
How are your kids coping? Mine don't know yet, which is hard too in a way. Prefer to keep quiet until its definate.
